Our new addition!
Now that I have inherited 24 chickens, I've been wanting to hatch out some babies. I tried a couple of times but they never hatched and my hens wouldn't stay on their nests. Well, the other day I came outside and there in my front yard was one of my hens with 11 baby chicks!!! She had hidden her nest somewhere and hatched out babies! I was SO excited, until my 4 cats came into the yard and promptly started eating the chicks!! I was hysterical and tried to stop them but there were too many. They ate 2 of my babies. I finally contained the cats and Opal was able to get away with what was left of her babies. Luckily we still have 9. Hopefully they will all survive and become good egg layers or roosters.
